Listening, Learning, and Building Together
Dear Monson Public Schools Families & Community,
It is an honor to begin this new chapter with Monson Public Schools. As your Superintendent, my first priority is to listen, learn, and build relationships. I want to understand what makes Monson special—what our students, families, educators, and community members value most, what challenges we face, and where we see opportunity for growth.
To guide this work, I have launched a Superintendent’s Entry Plan—a roadmap for these first months together. This plan is designed to celebrate our strengths, identify opportunities, and shape a vision for the future that honors the voices of our community and puts the needs of all our learners at the center of everything we do.
Goals of the Entry Plan
The goals are simple yet important:
Listen and learn;
Build relationships and establish trust within MPS and with the broader community;
Develop a shared understanding of strengths and challenges;
Identify new or expanded partnerships for MPS;
Prioritize opportunities for strategic leadership; and,
Collaborative develop a new strategic plan.
How We’ll Do This Work
This fall, I will be:
Hosting Family Listening Sessions across all schools;
Visiting classrooms and school events weekly;
Continuing to meet with students, staff, community partners, and town leadership;
Reviewing documents and data that tell a story of the operations and outcomes;
Launching a community-wide survey to gather your hopes, dreams, and ideas; and,
Understanding the experiences of all students, especially diverse learners.
🗓️ Family Listening Sessions
We invite families to join one of our first three Listening Sessions to share your hopes, ideas, and what matters most to you:
Monson High — Wednesday, September 24, 7:30–8:00 p.m. (during Open House)
Granite Valley — Tuesday, October 14, 5:30–7:00 p.m.
ECC / Quarry Hill — Wednesday, October 15, 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Additional sessions may be scheduled, and all dates will be shared on our Facebook page.
Share Your Feedback Online
If you cannot attend in person, please take a few minutes to share your feedback through our online survey:
Together, I believe we can build upon the district’s many strengths and work toward a future where all students reach their full potential as passionate and productive lifelong learners and global citizens.
With appreciation,
Paul N. Foster
