School Committee Vacancy

A vacancy has occurred on the School Committee due to a resignation effective September 22, 2025. The process for filling a vacancy on elected boards is defined by Massachusetts General Law Chapter 41, §11 and the Monson School Committee policy BBBE. The Select Board and School Committee will jointly meet to interview applicants and appoint a person to fill the vacant seat.
Individuals interested in being considered for appointment to fill the vacancy on the School Committee are asked to send a letter of application outlining their interest in the position and any related experience.
Two (2) copies of materials should be submitted, both on the same day – one to the Select Board and one to the School Committee (by mail, hand delivered, or by email, addresses below). Deadline for submission is Friday, October 17, 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.

Interviews and appointment by the joint Select Board - School Committee will be conducted at a later date to be determined.
Please note that the individual appointed by the joint boards will serve until the position is filled by the next municipal election scheduled for June 2026. If appointee desires to continue in the position beyond June, the individual will have to seek election to the position on the School Committee.
