Vol. 3 | Senior Scoop November 2023

A Publication of the Counseling Department at Monson High School Just for Seniors

Encouraging, Supporting, Celebrating and Recognizing Seniors completing and submitting their college applications.

The American College Application Campaign® (ACAC) is a national effort to increase the number of first-generation college students, students from low-income families, and rural populations pursuing a college degree or other higher education credential.

The college application process can be confusing and daunting for students. ACAC events assist high school seniors, including those systemically underserved, with submitting at least one college application. We break down the steps of the application process and we meet students where they are – in high school during the school day. By working across schools, across communities, and across state lines, we can more successfully impact who pursues education and training beyond high school.

Beginning in 2014, ACAC programs took place in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. As of the 2020 campaign year, over 3.69 million students have been served, submitting over 5.99 million college applications since the campaign’s inception in 2005.

Monson High School has been participating in ACAC since November of 2015, and over the years has helped over 250 students submit 483 applications, receive 196 direct admission decisions and be awarded over $830,000 of scholarships and financial aid awards!

This year, we will be celebrating ACAC the week of November 13th-17th. There will be Common App/College Application Workshops during all blocks and lunches on Monday, November 13th and welcoming admissions representatives from area schools to meet with students for immediate admissions decisions, throughout the week. Sign-ups for all of these sessions will be located in the Counseling Office and virtually in the Class of 2024 Counseling Google Classroom.
