College Representatives to Visit MHS


Several college representatives will be conducting virtual visits to MHS

this fall to talk to students about their respective institutions and distribute

informational materials.


The list with necessary log in information can be found in the Class of

2021 Google Counseling Classroom. Seniors interested in attending one of

these sessions MUST sign up on the online sign up form also located in the

Classroom prior to the scheduled visit and obtain permission to attend from

the teacher in whose class the visit is scheduled to take place.

The focus of the presentation will be on effective ways to create a high quality essay. Topics discussed will include:

  • What makes a good essay

  • What colleges look for in an essay

  • What to avoid putting in the essay

  • Selecting a topic

 

Financial Aid Resources

Do you need help filling out the financial aid forms?

Confused about what form to file?

Do you have questions about how to report your income?

We will soon post a video with a basic overview about financial aid and how to complete the Free

Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the College Scholarship Service’s PROFILE®. The

program will also include a live segment to answer your questions.

2020 Future Leaders Scholarship: October 15, 2020

The Future Leaders Scholarship will award six (6) $1,000 in scholarships to students who excel in academics, community service, and athletics. The selection process will begin with a review of each student's application, written recommendations, and transcripts. A number of students will then be selected for virtual interviews which will be conducted the week of November 9. At the conclusion of interviews, six statewide scholarship winners will be announced. Academic Excellence Scholarship: October 30, 2020

Award Amount: $10,000. The JKCF College Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors who intend to enroll in a four-year college in the fall. You must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and demonstrate significant financial need to qualify for this award. Selection is also based on persistence, leadership, and a desire to help others. Coca Cola Scholars Program Scholarship: October 31, 2020

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. Burger King Scholarship: December 15, 2020

WHO CAN APPLY: High School Seniors, BK® Employees, Children, Spouses or Partners of Employees. WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE: $1,000 - $50,000 in Scholarships. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Be from the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, work experience and community involvement. For more information please visit: www.BK-SCHOLARS.COM

The OppU Achievers Scholarship:December 31, March 31, June 30

The Massachusetts JCI Senate Scholarship: January 22, 2021

The Massachusetts JCI Senate will award two (2) $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating students in Massachusetts. The State winners will be forwarded to the National JCI Senate and will be eligible for additional $1,000.00 scholarships. To obtain an application please visit http://majcisenate.weebly.com.

Henry David Thoreau Scholarship: February 1, 2021

The Henry David Thoreau Foundation selects Massachusetts’ high school seniors interested in environmental studies to receive up to $20,000 for tuition to the college of their choice. Please visit: www.thoreauscholar.org for more information and to submit your application.

Wace National CO-OP Scholarship Program: February 15, 2021

To qualify for this scholarship, students must: Have a high school GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or better; Apply and be accepted for the 2020-2021 academic year at one of the WACE Partner Institutes. The Ann and Tony Odierna Community Service Award: April 15, 2021

All students from any middle school through high school or Grades 6-12 (public or private) in Hampden County of Western MA are eligible. Information and directions about this scholarship are available at www.tonyohockey.com by clicking on Community Service Award (please examine all four headings).

Pureland Supply Vocational and Skilled Trade Scholarship: May 1, 2021

The $500.00 Pureland Supply Scholarship is available to students who have been accepted to an

accredited trade school, vocational college, technical school or community college for the study

of trade, craft, or labor occupations. Recipients are chosen based on their ability to describe

how their chosen trade or field plays an important role in today’s world and why this is
