Update from Dr. Clarke:

Good afternoon, everyone –

I write with several updates. Last night, the School Committee made many decisions regarding how the district will move forward from this point. I share them below. This will be a lengthy email; I encourage you to read it carefully.

  • What target metric will we use to move between fully remote and hybrid in-person learning? School Committee Vote: Regardless of the town’s color designation, we will hold in-person learning for those students who choose this option. The fully remote option remains in place as well.

  • When will we return to in-person learning? School Committee Vote: All students who have chosen the in-person option will return on Monday, January 25.

  • Which model of in-person learning will be in place? School Committee Vote: All students, grades preschool through 12, who chose the in-person model, will attend Monday through Thursday; Friday will continue to be a half day remote.

  • What about our high needs students who are in substantially separate programs? School Committee Vote: All students in substantially separate programs will begin on Tuesday, January 19.

  • What about athletics? School Committee Vote: Our basketball season will begin on January 11, and teams will be able to practice and compete. Modifications and restrictions will be in place.

  • What about Grab & Go? Grab & Go will continue! The first pickup day will be on Tuesday, January 19, due to the Martin Luther King holiday, with two opportunities for pickup of meals while students are fully remote. Grab & Go will return to Mondays beginning on January 25. There will be one afternoon pickup each Monday.

Please know that all of the safety procedures and protocols that were in place when we were in

person last fall will continue to be in place when we return on January 25. Now more than ever, we need to be vigilant in adhering to all safety guidelines!

Your building administration will be reaching out with further details. In the meantime, please

contact them should you have any questions.

Thank you! We look forward to welcoming our in-person students back on January 25!

Sincerely,

Cheryl A. Clarke, Ed.D.

Superintendent
