Fondest memory from school:
As the years go on, the tales of my high school sports career have definitely become taller, but I do hold the memories of the long practices, hilarious bus rides and times with my teammates at the top of the list.
How did your Monson education prepare you for your current job duties?
More so than any specific subject matter, it is the communication and interpersonal skills that I developed at MHS which have translated more broadly into my professional life. Knowing how to interact and communicate effectively with different personalities and styles in the workplace can make all the difference. However, it is only through the daily grind of memorizing calculus equations or articulating your opinion on To Kill a Mockingbird that you develop and refine these softer skills. The faculty at Monson High always challenged me to be better than the day before and fostered my work ethic. The town in general instilled a sense of community in me and what being a good neighbor is all about, which is special and something that I will carry with me for a lifetime.
What advice would you share with current Monson students about your career journey?
Give meaningful thought to what you want to achieve in life, whether it's personal or professional, and then determine what intermediary steps need to be taken to get there. We only have so much time in any given day, so it is important to figure out and prioritize what your long-term goals necessitate on a daily basis. Every action we take should, in some way, work towards one of these goals. Find something you're passionate about and commit to it 100%, even during the inevitable challenges. Never be outworked. Raise your hand for the extra project or assignment, especially if it puts you outside of your comfort zone.
