Fondest memory from school:
I'd be remiss not to mention the many great memories I have from Señora Webster's Spanish classes. I'm sure that I tested her patience on many occasions but I left with a great appreciation for her interactive learning techniques and quirky personality. There truly was never a dull moment and that made for a fun learning environment. On a recent trip to Cancun I was surprised by how much of the language I had retained since High School.
How did your Monson education prepare you for your current job duties?
I enrolled in as many construction related courses that I could ie. AutoCAD, Woodshop, Tech. Ed. Those courses gave me fundamental experience and helped spike my interest in construction.
What advice would you share with current Monson students about your career journey?
Most people don't know exactly which career they want to pursuit after graduating high school. It's cliché but it's absolutely true. Going into my freshman year at UMass Amherst, I had high interest in both the business and construction fields. I met with my college advisor and she mentioned construction management to me. After some research I concluded that construction management combined the business & management techniques and construction field experience that I was passionate about. It was a perfect fit. The moral of the story? Don't hesitate to ask questions. Especially to your professors and advisors who are likely to provide insightful guidance/tips that may help you choose your path.
