Our Mission
Granite Valley Middle School fosters a sense of emotional security and academic success through a rigorous developmentally appropriate curriculum, respect for the contributions of all, and promotion of lifelong learning.
To achieve this mission, Granite Valley Middle School boasts a caring and nurturing staff that is dedicated to excellence, high achievement and promoting the well being of all students. Interdisciplinary teams in grades 5-8 are highlighted by their successful inclusion programs, flexible scheduling, interdisciplinary instruction, and active, hands-on classrooms. Our teams offer a variety of opportunities for students to extend their learning outside of the classroom walls with curriculum-related field trips.
Here at Granite Valley, our students excel in many areas. The monthly Principal’s Luncheon and Student of the Month ceremony take time to honor not just academics, but the whole student. Events such as the National Geographic Bee and the American Mathematics Competition challenge our students to compete on the national level. Our Kindness Counts program acknowledges random acts of kindness on a daily basis. After school, students have the opportunity to participate in activities such as Chorus, Student Council, One Act Plays and the Young Artists Committee.
Many intervention programs have been established to help at-risk students. Our Peer Mentoring program, flexible math groupings, in-school and after-school tutoring, and the WISE (Working to Increase Student Excellence) program support students in need.
Educating today’s youth requires a partnership between parents, students, teachers and the entire community – none of us can do it alone! We realize the importance of preparing our students for the future and seek assistance through volunteers to help us reach each and every child.
We encourage you to become involved in your child’s educational experience here at Granite Valley Middle School. Please feel free to contact me at 413-267-4155.
Sincerely,
Cheryl A. Clarke Principal |
